RTE publishes the PP Days (Peak Periods) at various intervals in order to maximise the lead time and optimise the expected effects:
- Standard notice period: PP Days are generally announced at midday two days in advance (D-2) or at 9.30 am the day before (D-1).
- Exceptional deadline: in the event of an Orange or Red Ecowatt alert, a PP Day may be published between 7.00 pm on D-3 and 7.00 pm on D-1.
- ‘Awaiting publication’ status: this status means that the decision has not yet been finalised and published.
PP Days are published only during the Delivery Period (DP) of the capacity mechanism, i.e. from 1 November of year N to 31 March of year N+1. 22 PP Days are selected each year, including 6 between 1 November and 31 December. They are chosen exclusively among the working days of the DP, including school holidays but excluding national public holidays.
Once a PP signal has been published, RTE does not reverse this decision.
In the event of publication problems, please feel free to call the RTE hotline.
