Update to connection offers in the Port-la-Nouvelle area

Under the provisions governing requests for mutualisation of connection works for consumers and distribution system operators (DSOs) to the transmission system (CRE deliberation No. 2024-200), RTE referred the matter to the French Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) in order to obtain its decision on the implementation of mutualised connection facilities in the Port-la-Nouvelle area. The CRE has approved the creation of this mutualisation area.

Through this decision, the CRE authorises the anticipatory construction of a set of facilities that will create 310 MW of hosting capacity in the Port-la-Nouvelle area by 2034. However, the strategy proposed by RTE will make part of this capacity available as early as 2031 in order to meet customers’ needs.

To connect to the transmission system, customers will be required to pay a contribution towards the cost of these works, set at €156.25k/MW.

The characteristics of the area can be consulted via the map of mutualisation areas published by RTE.

In accordance with Article D342-27 of the French Energy Code, all connection requests to the transmission system in this area that directly or indirectly benefit from the connection capacity provided by this set of facilities, and that have not yet been formalised through a connection agreement, fall within the corresponding reference connection operation with mutualised extension.

As a result, RTE will contact the relevant applicants in order to revise the contractual terms of their connection, as impacted by this decision.
