RTE has selected six balancing service providers for additional call for tenders for manual frequency restoration and replacement reserves for the period from 1 January to 31 May 2021.

Launched at the beginning of November 2020, this additional call for tenders for contracting the missing part of the manual frequency restoration and replacement reserves required for the period from 1 January to 31 May 2021 led to the selection of six companies by RTE: Agregio, EDF, Energy Pool Développement, Engie, Flexcity and Smart Grid Energy.

The need expressed by RTE (500 MW) has been fully met. The total amount of the contracting is 1.5 M€, with a manual frequency restoration reserve price of 2.7 k€/MW and a replacement reserve price of 2.8 k€/MW for the period from 1 January to 31 May 2021.

Through this call for tenders, market players participating in manual frequency restoration and rapid reserves benefit from a capacity remuneration, complementary to that of the balancing mechanism in the event of activation, for the provision of their balancing capacity. Through this means they contribute to the safety of operation and management of the supply-demand balance of the power system.

For more information, see the release on the launch of the additional call for tenders or the page dedicated to manual frequency restoration and replacement reserve on the RTE customer service portal. Weekly marginal prices and retained volumes are published here.
